Norrtälje Hospital

Project management of two parallel contracts.

Location: Norrtälje

Scope: 35 million SEK

Duration:
Turnkey Contract: April 2022 – December 2022
Execution Contract: August 2022 – February 2023

For Norrtälje Hospital, Fidell has undertaken a comprehensive and strategic role in enhancing the hospital's fire safety through two parallel contracts. Fidell serves as project manager for both the execution contract for the installation of a new sprinkler system and the turnkey contract for constructing a new water reservoir. These projects are critical for improving the hospital's fire preparedness.

Execution Contract: Sprinkler System
Fidell leads the project where new sprinkler systems are being installed along with an upgrade of the hospital's lighting to energy-efficient LED fixtures and smart lighting control. The project, scheduled for completion by the end of February 2023, is being carried out while the hospital remains fully operational, requiring meticulous planning, communication, and flexibility to minimize disruptions to daily hospital activities.

Turnkey Contract: Water Reservoir
In parallel with the sprinkler system, Fidell is constructing an underground water reservoir with a capacity of 200,000 liters to supply the sprinkler system in case of a fire. This turnkey project is expected to be completed in December 2022 and also includes the creation of a park above the reservoir to provide a pleasant recreational area for the hospital. The work also involves upgrades to the pharmacy staff area and a new entry staircase to the inner courtyard.

Special Project Aspects
The project's location adjacent to the hospital’s helipad has introduced unique challenges similar to those encountered at airports, requiring strict coordination and safety protocols. Additionally, the project involves advanced technical solutions for firefighting water management.
